I am a 43 year old male from Malta. So this basically makes me the guild dad (some of my old guild members also had the nerve to call me guild granddad!!!) in most guilds.

I am married (to a hot wife but you can dream for eternity that you will ever get screenshots!) with 3 children. I am also a teacher (vice-principal actually) by profession and this means that I do get a lot of whispers for some kind of advice or other which I gladly give out if I am asked and if I feel confident to do so.

I am a positive and optimistic person by nature. For me to be happy in a guild I need not only feel an integral and important part of the raiding team but also part of a community of friends who love to guild chat and tease each other and joke around.

As you will see from the coming sections, I have vast raiding experience and you will also see that once I find a guild I like I stick to it. I won't jump ship just because a better raiding guild comes along. Obviously although I want to raid casually I would like to be in a guild where people know what they are doing. I don't want to be server first (although that can be nice sometimes) but I want to see all and defeat all content at heroic level if possible, even if that takes a bit longer.

F: Previous guilds

Shattered Star Exiles (Bladefist then Outland): Started proper raiding with my hunter in Shattered Star Exiles on Bladefist – fun times but in the summer of 2006 the guild disbanded.

Ascension (Outland): after the previous guild’s disband went to this guild and raided for a few months with them until I got to know that some of my previous guild mates were going to start raiding again for The Burning Crusade under a new guild name. I left the Ascension to re-join my previous guild mates in December 2006.

Avalon (Outland): started raiding in The Burning Crusade but regretfully the same problems that plagued us in Shattered Star Exiles, i.e. key persons, e.g. main tank, raid leader went inactive and so raids became harder to organise and keep going for raid progress. I decided to join my brother in Sinisters in October 2007.

Sinisters (Outland): three awesome years with this guild. Stayed with them through thick and thin even when our guild was passing through hard progression times. But alas, at one point, key people stopped playing, and others decided to leave and join other guilds. It has been very hard to find suitable replacements and so we decided to go 10 man. Our long serving paladin tank expressed his wish to go 25 man raiding again. Eventually we stopped raiding and the guild was disbanded.

After Sinisters stopped raiding I felt almost like giving up WoW altogether since I could not imagine raiding without my old buddies. I did join two more guilds - Semper Frateri and Sanity on Bladefist.

Semper Frateri decided to re-roll Horde and go from 25 to 10 man three weeks after I joined. Being a newcomer I was not chosen for the 10 man. With Sanity I did not click. I raided a few raids with them but then they too started finding problems raiding 25 man so they started doing 10 mans and I ended up being benched a lot. These two failed guilds and the missing of my old guildies made me quit WoW for 1.5 years only to return this February when I decided that there is no MMO like WoW after having tried LOTRO, SWTOR and GW2.

Batteries not Included (Ragnaros) After leveling and gearing up solo in MoP, waiting to find a suitable guild which raids 2-3 nights a week and where fun and comradeship is more important than being an elitist p***k, I was accepted to join Batteries not Included on Ragnaros. Unfortunately although things looked bright for the first two weeks or so, key people in the guild started going awol and progress was so slow that the guild has not cleared all ToT on normal yet. I decided to give it some time (months) to see if things got better but alas they did not and this current situation is a little too casual for my liking. So I decided to look for a new home.

Pure (Auchindoun) (current guild)

I joined Pure in September 2013 and I must say that I enjoyed being there a lot. Only problem is that lately people have been going inactive mostly for real life reasons. This plus the fact that some key members decided to leave and no good recruits could be found, Pure has stopped raiding and I can either look for another raiding guild or stop playing.

Ahn’Qiraj 40: killed every boss at level 60 except for C’Thun which I killed at level 70.
Karahzan: cleared
Gruul’s Lair: cleared
Serpentshrine Cavern: cleared
Battle for Mount Hyjal: cleared
Magtheridion’s Lair: cleared
Tempest Keep: cleared
The Black Temple: cleared
The Sunwell Plateau: cleared up to Muru pre-nerf, spent a whole summer breaking my head and keyboard against him and came as close as to a 3% pre-nerf kill. We managed to kill him after the nerf and obviously Kil’jaeden who was also kind enough to give me an orange bow a week or so before Wrath of the Lich King shipped.
Naxxramas: cleared
Ulduar: cleared
Trial of the Grand Crusader: cleared
Ice Crown Citadel: The above were cleared all on Heroic mode. Also killed Halion and Sartharion.
Blackwing Descent: cleared in Heroic mode
Bastion of Twilight: cleared all on Normal mode. Halfus and Valion on Heroic mode
Throne of the Four Winds: cleared all Normal mode
Firelands: Killed some bosses on Normal mode - this was the time when I was trying to find a guild after Sinisters stopped raiding.
Dragonsoul: joined for 1 LFR but I had stopped playing at that time - just used a Scroll of Res a friend had sent me.
Mogu'shan Vaults: cleared in LFR and Normal.
Heart of Fear: cleared in LFR and Normal.
Terrace of Endless Spring: cleared in LFR and up to Tortos on Normal.
Siege of Ogrimmar: 8/14 HC

H. Activity:

I play everyday (especially when new content is out) and can raid 3-4 days a week. More if needed but I would not like to overdo it to keep up with my other interests and family/friends.

I. Other info:

I use BigWigs and other addons like WeakAuras, Omen, Recount, etc. to help my raid performance. I always do my best to compete for the top dps spots whilst keeping deaths to a lowest count as possible.


I use Vent for raids but I don't generally hang out all the time on it when not raiding. I like to be active in guild chat though. Please do not take this that I don't want to socialise but at times after a long hard day of work of dealing with students, colleagues and parents, I would look forward to some peace and quiet

Honestly, there's not much to say about this application, everything looks great :p Your performance on spoils was also nicely done :p
We also had word from our good friend Doom, who basically said that nearly everyone from Pure is a pretty nice human being.

Just some annoying questions that I like to ask potential recruits:
How do you solo the conveyer belt on siegecrafter?
What are the main things you watch out for on sha of pride heroic?
When is a good time to use tranq shot on any of the first 8 bosses?

To answer your questions:

1. I have always been on conveyor belt duty on Siegecrafter normal. I hop in - dps the item to be prioritised, namely the mines usually. Then disengage off. Hunters cannot go back on the conveyor belt until the debuff wears off since they had hotfixed that some time back. So basically you still need 2 people for the belt.

2. Main things to watch out for on Sha of Pride heroic: make sure you always have the Weakened resolve debuff on me, meaning I'm always soaking rifts. I aim to go for the farthest rifts if possible to leave the close ones for the healers to soak (unless I have the Mark of Arrogance debuff in which case I stay in healing range). Other stuff to look out for is to dps the add that spawns behinds us, use personal cooldown (Deterrence) on Swelling pride and also free people from prisons and dps the corrupted fragment to get people out of the pacman maze). I hope I didn't forget anything.

3. I honestly have never used it much except on an enraging add here and there. I do read that it can be used to dispel Earth shield from Nazgrim adds. Honestly have never used it though.

I think you may be mistaken about the conveyer belt thing, since I soloed it on my hunter just last week still :p and yeah, the one main target for tranq shot is indeed general nazgrim, since each tick of earth shield heals him for about 50 million health.

I stand to be corrected since you have done it yourself. Having said that I had had the debuff on me when I had tried it. I will try it again no problems.

Re Earth shield I will see how to add this to Weakauras or my tranq monitor to help me out.
